Yes of course you can lose weight when you restrict on ANY diet. But it’s definitely not sustainable….
I personally eat a lot of low calorie foods (fruits and veggies) are the bulk of my diet. But the difference is that I don’t use these foods to fill my stomach just to force myself into a calorie deficit, which is often what you see many individuals on these type of diets do.
This is where you need to dig deep to see where your intentions lie when it comes to eating the fruits and veggies. Is it because they are nutrient rich providing your body with tons of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, photo-chemicals etc. Is it because they make you feel amazing? (Skin, hair, nails, digestion, energy etc)? Or are you eating these foods for negative reasons because you want to fill your tummy with low calorie foods to create a caloric deficit or because you force yourself to eat these foods because you deem them to be only acceptable? These are the things you need to address with yourself!!

Eating TONS of fruits and veggies is incredible for your health and they SHOULD be eaten in abundance, however, they should not be used just to limit your calorie intake. We all need plenty of calories to thrive.

Calorie MINIMUMS for Optimal Health & Longevity:
2000-3000 for women
2500-3500 for men
So to conclude… I do agree with this practice but I also believe you need to be honest with yourself about your diet choices.
